Snohomish Education Foundation Awards over $92,000 in Scholarships for 2008!
Describing this year’s Snohomish High School graduates as “exceptional”, the Snohomish Education Foundation announced it has awarded 88 scholarships totaling more than $92,000 to 73 SHS seniors.
Celebrating its 22nd year of operation, the Snohomish Education Foundation raises funds for Snohomish school children to pay for everything from shoes for needy kids to classroom grants for teachers to college scholarships for deserving SHS grads who otherwise would not have the means to further their education. Since 1996, the Foundation has awarded over $369,000 in scholarships to SHS graduates.
SEF president, Bonnie Roulstone said, “The class of 2008 has students that are outstanding, both academically and athletically. We have students that plan to be machinists as well as physicians. The community of Snohomish should be proud of our graduates. We were able to award 88 scholarships to 73 exceptional students. This year’s new scholarships included the Steve Campbell Memorial Scholarship, the Pat Kuhlman Nursing Scholarship, the Ken Schilaty JROTC Scholarship, the Duane Kuhlman Agriculture Scholarship, the Cathcart Elementary PTO Scholarship and additional Evans Memorial Scholarships. We also awarded four scholarships this year to AIM High School students.”
Some of the students receiving scholarships include:
Amada Perez pursing a career in Athletic training with a minor in Art at Edmonds Community College. She has followed a Sports Medicine pathway at SHS, working in the training room and as manager of the Varsity football team for four years and for the Wrestling team for one year.

He has been attending SnoIsle this year studying Fire Science, which he will continue next year at Everett Community College, pursuing a career as a Fire Fighter.
